A printed notice goes stale the moment something changes, and nobody walks over to read the same sheet twice. A digital announcement board stays current because you edit it from your desk, and the split-flap flip catches the eye every time the message changes. Festaboard gives you the retro Vestaboard-style look — a 6-row by 22-column grid of 132 mechanical-style tiles — without buying any hardware.

Because it is a free browser web app, the same board can live on a lobby TV, a break-room monitor, or a tablet by the door. There is nothing to print, laminate, or reprint, and no subscription to renew.

Run it as a standup board that shows the day's focus, the current blocker, or who is on call. Post a shout-out when someone ships, or a reminder about the all-hands at 3. The 132 tiles hold one short, punchy line — which is the point, since a board people glance at in passing should say a single thing clearly.

Per-cell color tiles help the message land. Set a name in green, an urgent notice in red, or frame a welcome message in blue. You have white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple to work with, plus five themes including Classic Amber and Terminal Green.

Sign in with your email and a one-time code — no password to remember — and edit the board from the dashboard. Whatever you type flips onto the connected screen. If the display is running in kiosk mode, your edit reaches it in about a second, with no reload and nobody touching the TV.

That makes the announcement display genuinely low-maintenance. Set the screen up once in a hallway, then run it from your laptop or phone for the rest of the term or the year.

Press F and the site chrome disappears, leaving only the grid — a clean notice board screen showing nothing but your message. For a permanent install, open the public share link with ?kiosk=1 appended. Kiosk mode holds a screen Wake Lock so the display never sleeps, starts muted with low-motion animation, and auto-reloads to recover if the tab has been hidden for a long stretch.

It runs on cheap hardware you probably already have: a smart TV browser, an old tablet, or a Raspberry Pi from a Pi 3A with 512MB of RAM up to a Pi 5. On very low-power devices, add ?anim=off so text swaps instantly instead of animating.

One screen can carry more than one message. Save extra slides and, in fullscreen, cycle between your main board and those slides on an interval you pick — anywhere from 5 minutes up to 120 minutes. A lobby board can rotate a welcome message, this week's shout-outs, and the lunch reminder without anyone touching it.
