DIGITAL SIGNAGE
Free digital signage software for any browser and TV
Festaboard is free digital signage software you run in a browser tab, with no media player to buy and no monthly fee. It turns any TV or tablet into a retro split-flap board that people actually stop to read.
Why Festaboard works as free digital signage software
Most digital signage tools give you a slideshow: photos and text sliding past on a loop. Festaboard gives you a 6-row by 22-column grid of 132 mechanical-style tiles that flip into place, one character at a time, with a soft physical click you can mute. It is signage with a look, not another generic feed running in the corner of the room.
That character earns attention. A split-flap board announcing your Wi-Fi code, today's specials, or a welcome message reads differently from a flat PowerPoint on a screen. You get per-cell color tiles in white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, plus five themes, so the board matches your space instead of fighting it.
It is genuinely free. There is no subscription, no per-screen license, and no hardware requirement for the core experience. You sign in with a one-time email code, no password to remember, and start building a board.
Browser digital signage that runs on the TVs you already own
Because Festaboard is a browser web app, it runs anywhere a browser does: laptops, desktops, tablets, smart TVs, and single-board computers in kiosk mode. That includes Raspberry Pi hardware from a Pi 3A with 512MB of RAM up to a Pi 5, and RK3568-based Android displays, so you can drive a wall without buying a dedicated signage player.
Press F, or use the on-screen control, and the board goes fullscreen. The site chrome disappears and only the 6x22 grid fills the screen, ready for a TV or monitor. You can also install it as a PWA with Add to Home Screen, so it opens like an app on the display.
Kiosk mode: set it on a wall and leave it
A screen mounted on a wall should not need a keyboard, a mouse, or a person to babysit it. Add ?kiosk=1 to your board's share URL and Festaboard drops into kiosk mode: no chrome, low-motion animation, and sound off by default. It holds a screen Wake Lock so the display never sleeps, and it auto-reloads to recover on its own if the browser tab has been hidden for a long stretch.
For low-power players you can tune the animation with a URL flag. Use ?anim=full for the complete flip, ?anim=lite for fewer steps (the default in kiosk mode), or ?anim=off to swap text instantly with zero animation on very modest devices. Festaboard also respects the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting automatically.
Update the sign from your desk, with no reload
Signage is only useful if it stays current, and climbing to the TV every time is not a plan. Edit your board from the dashboard and, on a screen running kiosk mode, the change pushes to the display in about a second with no reload. You can update a board across the room or across the building without touching the screen.
To hand a board to someone else, toggle public sharing on to get a read-only link at festaboard.com/b/ followed by a token. Anyone can open it with no account, which makes it easy to drop the same message onto a second screen or send it to a colleague.
Rotate messages, show live data, and set the mood
One static message gets stale. In fullscreen you can cycle between your main board and extra saved slides on an interval you choose, anywhere from 5 minutes up to 120 minutes, so a single screen carries several messages through the day.
Two live integrations work today. The Clock shows live time, day, and date in 12-hour or 24-hour format and updates itself, which is handy for a lobby or reception. TrustMRR pulls live MRR, growth percentage, and customer count from your SaaS via a slug, for a team wall. More integrations are coming soon, including Weather, Crypto, Spotify, Home Assistant, Google Calendar, Countdown, and Datafast, and those are not available yet.
Signage features that matter on a wall
Press F and the site chrome hides so only the 6x22 grid of 132 tiles fills the TV or monitor.
Append ?kiosk=1 to the share link for a chrome-free display that stays awake and auto-recovers on its own.
Drive a screen from a Raspberry Pi (Pi 3A with 512MB up to Pi 5) or an RK3568 Android display in kiosk mode.
Edit from the dashboard and the change reaches a kiosk screen in about a second, no touching the TV.
Cycle your main board and saved slides on an interval from 5 minutes up to 120 minutes.
Choose ?anim=full, ?anim=lite, or ?anim=off, and Festaboard honors prefers-reduced-motion automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Is Festaboard really free digital signage software?
Yes. Festaboard is a free browser web app with no subscription and no per-screen license. You sign in with a one-time email code and start building boards. The core experience needs no hardware purchase.
What screens and players does it run on?
Anything with a browser: laptops, desktops, tablets, and smart TVs. For dedicated displays it runs on single-board computers in kiosk mode, including Raspberry Pi from a Pi 3A with 512MB of RAM up to a Pi 5, and RK3568-based Android displays.
How do I keep the screen from going to sleep?
Use kiosk mode. Add ?kiosk=1 to your board's share URL and Festaboard holds a screen Wake Lock so the display stays on. If the tab is hidden for a long time, it auto-reloads to recover without anyone stepping in.
Can I change the message without walking up to the TV?
Yes. Edit your board from the dashboard and the update pushes to a kiosk screen in about a second with no reload. You can manage a display from your desk or from anywhere you can open the dashboard.
Will it run smoothly on a cheap or old device?
It is built for it. Kiosk mode uses low-motion animation by default, and you can add ?anim=off to swap text instantly with no animation on very low-power hardware. It also respects your operating system's reduced-motion setting.
Can the sign show live information?
Two integrations are live today: a Clock with live time, day, and date, and TrustMRR with live MRR, growth, and customer count from your SaaS. Weather, Crypto, Spotify, Home Assistant, Google Calendar, Countdown, and Datafast are coming soon and not available yet.
